Before you buy a used Hexar AF
- Check the autofocus and the LCD.
- Ask whether it's the silent-mode version (the original black / silver are).
- Point and shoots are mostly electronic and rarely worth repairing: ask for a film-tested camera, not just "powers on".
- Check the lens extends, the flash fires and the film door shuts firmly.
- Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a camera that doesn't work as described, but only if you pay through eBay. Our used film camera checklist has the tests to do the day it arrives.
Battery: 2CR5. The camera won't work without it. Battery finder →
Questions buyers ask
How much is a used Hexar AF worth?
On eBay UK today a tested / working Konica Hexar AF typically costs £911 delivered, with most between £832 and £987. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.
Is it cheaper to buy a Hexar AF from Japan?
24 of the 27 Konica Hexar AF listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. The cheapest tested one from Japan is £830 including about 20% import VAT, against £508 for the cheapest tested one from a UK seller. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.
What battery does the Hexar AF take?
2CR5.
Is a tested Hexar AF worth paying more for?
Right now tested examples are listed at about £132 (17%) more than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.
What should I check before buying a used Hexar AF?
Check the autofocus and the LCD. Ask whether it's the silent-mode version (the original black / silver are).
Are these sold prices?
No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
