Prices from outside the UK include about 20% import VAT. Over £135 the courier may add a handling fee, and customs duty can apply. Work out the full cost with the import cost calculator.
A * after the working status means it comes from the seller's description, not the title.
Before you buy a used GR1
- The top LCD "bleeds" (dark patches) on many GR1s: check it's readable. It's cosmetic until it goes blank.
- Ask for a film test: lens errors aren't worth repairing.
- Point and shoots are mostly electronic and rarely worth repairing: ask for a film-tested camera, not just "powers on".
- Check the lens extends, the flash fires and the film door shuts firmly.
- Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a camera that doesn't work as described, but only if you pay through eBay. Our used film camera checklist has the tests to do the day it arrives.
Battery: CR2. The camera won't work without it. Battery finder →
Questions buyers ask
How much is a used GR1 worth?
On eBay UK today a tested / working Ricoh GR1 typically costs £910 delivered, with most between £834 and £1,068. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.
Is it cheaper to buy a GR1 from Japan?
33 of the 36 Ricoh GR1 listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.
What battery does the GR1 take?
CR2.
Is a tested GR1 worth paying more for?
Right now tested examples are listed at about £67 (7%) less than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.
What should I check before buying a used GR1?
The top LCD "bleeds" (dark patches) on many GR1s: check it's readable. It's cosmetic until it goes blank. Ask for a film test: lens errors aren't worth repairing.
Are these sold prices?
No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
