A * after the working status means it comes from the seller's description, not the title.

Before you buy a used Mat-124G

  1. The meter is often dead or inaccurate; the camera works without it.
  2. Check the shutter speeds and the lenses for haze and fungus.
  3. Check the film advance crank stops at each frame.

Questions buyers ask

How much is a used Mat-124G worth?

On eBay UK today a tested / working Yashica Mat-124G typically costs £424 delivered, with most between £390 and £488. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.

Is it cheaper to buy a Mat-124G from Japan?

37 of the 71 Yashica Mat-124G listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. The cheapest tested one from Japan is £314 including about 20% import VAT, against £276 for the cheapest tested one from a UK seller. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.

What battery does the Mat-124G take?

PX625 mercury cell (discontinued): use a 1.35V zinc-air 675 cell in an adapter, or a Wein cell, for accurate metering (meter only). The shutter works without a battery; it only powers the meter.

Is a tested Mat-124G worth paying more for?

Right now tested examples are listed at about £33 (8%) more than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.

What should I check before buying a used Mat-124G?

The meter is often dead or inaccurate; the camera works without it. Check the shutter speeds and the lenses for haze and fungus.

Are these sold prices?

No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
