Prices from outside the UK include about 20% import VAT. Over £135 the courier may add a handling fee, and customs duty can apply. Work out the full cost with the import cost calculator.

A * after the working status means it comes from the seller's description, not the title.

Before you buy a used Rolleiflex 2.8

  1. Check both lenses for haze, fungus and separation (shine a torch through the taking lens with the back open).
  2. Check every shutter speed and the film advance crank.
  3. The meter (on E and F models) is often dead; the camera works without it.
  4. Shine a torch through the taking lens with the back open: look for haze, fungus and separation.
  5. Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a camera that doesn't work as described, but only if you pay through eBay. Our used film camera checklist has the tests to do the day it arrives.

Battery: None needed. The shutter works without one. Battery finder →

Questions buyers ask

How much is a used Rolleiflex 2.8 worth?

On eBay UK today a tested / working Rolleiflex 2.8 typically costs £2,799 delivered, with most between £1,885 and £3,144. Untested or faulty ones go for about £1,876. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.

Is it cheaper to buy a Rolleiflex 2.8 from Japan?

72 of the 125 Rolleiflex 2.8 listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. The cheapest tested one from Japan is £1,159 including about 20% import VAT, against £800 for the cheapest tested one from a UK seller. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.

What battery does the Rolleiflex 2.8 take?

None needed. The shutter works without a battery; it only powers the meter.

Is a tested Rolleiflex 2.8 worth paying more for?

Right now tested examples are listed at about £669 (19%) less than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.

What should I check before buying a used Rolleiflex 2.8?

Check both lenses for haze, fungus and separation (shine a torch through the taking lens with the back open). Check every shutter speed and the film advance crank.

Are these sold prices?

No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
