Japan4 listingscheapest tested £191

Prices from outside the UK include about 20% import VAT. Over £135 the courier may add a handling fee, and customs duty can apply. Work out the full cost with the import cost calculator.

A * after the working status means it comes from the seller's description, not the title.

Before you buy a used mju I

  1. Fully electronic, so ask for a film-tested camera: a dead mju is not worth repairing.
  2. Check the sliding cover and the LCD frame counter work, and the film door shuts tight.
  3. Point and shoots are mostly electronic and rarely worth repairing: ask for a film-tested camera, not just "powers on".
  4. Check the lens extends, the flash fires and the film door shuts firmly.
  5. Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a camera that doesn't work as described, but only if you pay through eBay. Our used film camera checklist has the tests to do the day it arrives.

Questions buyers ask

How much is a used mju I worth?

On eBay UK today a tested / working Olympus mju I typically costs £115 delivered, with most between £80 and £139. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.

Is it cheaper to buy a mju I from Japan?

4 of the 54 Olympus mju I listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. The cheapest tested one from Japan is £191 including about 20% import VAT, against £64 for the cheapest tested one from a UK seller. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.

Is a tested mju I worth paying more for?

Right now tested examples are listed at about £20 (15%) less than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.

What should I check before buying a used mju I?

Fully electronic, so ask for a film-tested camera: a dead mju is not worth repairing. Check the sliding cover and the LCD frame counter work, and the film door shuts tight.

Are these sold prices?

No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
