Where these cameras are posted from

UK sellers95 listingscheapest tested £38
Japan46 listingscheapest tested £136

Prices from outside the UK include about 20% import VAT. Over £135 the courier may add a handling fee, and customs duty can apply. Work out the full cost with the import cost calculator.

A * after the working status means it comes from the seller's description, not the title.

Before you buy a used XA2

  1. Check the clamshell, the shutter and the film advance.
  2. Point and shoots are mostly electronic and rarely worth repairing: ask for a film-tested camera, not just "powers on".
  3. Check the lens extends, the flash fires and the film door shuts firmly.
  4. Pay through eBay. eBay's Money Back Guarantee covers a camera that doesn't work as described, but only if you pay through eBay. Our used film camera checklist has the tests to do the day it arrives.

Battery: 2x LR44 / SR44. The camera won't work without it. Battery finder →

Questions buyers ask

How much is a used XA2 worth?

On eBay UK today a tested / working Olympus XA2 typically costs £104 delivered, with most between £85 and £145. Untested or faulty ones go for about £149. These are asking prices, so many sell for a little less, especially with Best Offer.

Is it cheaper to buy a XA2 from Japan?

46 of the 141 Olympus XA2 listings on eBay UK right now are posted from Japan. The cheapest tested one from Japan is £136 including about 20% import VAT, against £38 for the cheapest tested one from a UK seller. Japanese dealers grade cosmetic condition carefully ("Near Mint", "Exc+5"), but you pay import VAT and sometimes a courier fee, and returns take longer. All the prices on this page already include the VAT estimate.

What battery does the XA2 take?

2x LR44 / SR44.

Is a tested XA2 worth paying more for?

Right now tested examples are listed at about £55 (35%) less than ones where the seller doesn't say. A film-tested camera is the safest buy: an untested one can need a service costing £60 to £150.

What should I check before buying a used XA2?

Check the clamshell, the shutter and the film advance. Point and shoots are mostly electronic and rarely worth repairing: ask for a film-tested camera, not just "powers on".

Are these sold prices?

No, they're asking prices from live eBay listings, refreshed daily. We record the daily typical price, so the history chart shows how asking prices move.
